Cross-country skiing

Glide smoothly through the winter

Cross-country skiing is a sport that pampers both body and mind. The steady movement in the fresh air builds endurance and muscles in a very healthy way. The flowing movements are easy on the joints, making this sport suitable for almost everyone. Everyone can choose their own pace, and with both classic and skating techniques, there are very different variations to choose from. Leisurely ski touring is also gaining more and more fans, as the exercise amidst the beautiful landscape also promotes inner balance.
Ramsau am Dachstein is the center of Nordic sports and, with 220 kilometers of exquisite trails, offers exceptional cross-country skiing. At the foot of the Dachstein, a fairytale winter landscape unfolds, and the trails lead to the most beautiful spots, where a break and a moment of contemplation are definitely worth it.

Tobogganing

Fun by day and night

You don't really need much to go tobogganing: warm clothing, sturdy footwear, a toboggan (which can also be rented), and off you go – the fun is sure to begin after just a few meters on the sled. Hochwurzen has its own 7 km toboggan run that leads from the summit to the gondola valley station, offering a truly fantastic experience, complete with breathtaking mountain views. If you haven't had enough tobogganing during the day, you're in for a truly special treat. The toboggan run is floodlit throughout and can also be used at night until 10 p.m. This doubles the fun, and a stop at one of the mountain huts makes the evening simply perfect.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides

Romance in its highest form

The breath of the powerful horses steams in the fresh winter air, their manes flutter, and the bright jingle of bells can be heard from afar. The sleigh moves smoothly through the white winter landscape, and wrapped in a warm blanket, everything seems like a winter wonderland. But it's not a dream! It really is that beautiful, and few things could be more romantic than a winter horse-drawn sleigh ride in Ramsau or the Untertal valley. With a hearty stop for refreshments and a hot drink, this impressive experience is simply unforgettable.

Winter hiking

Of icicles and snow caps

The idea that hiking and walking in winter isn't fun can only be spread by those who aren't familiar with the magical winter hiking trails in the Schladming-Dachstein region. Through deep snow-covered forests, across meadows with millions of snow crystals, icicles, and snow caps sparkling in the sun, absolute peace and soothing white – plus the fresh, clean mountain air – you can tell we're getting carried away. But it's truly good for body and soul to find peace step by step. To hear only the crunch of the snow beneath your shoes and to take in winter impressions that couldn't be more beautiful. With its specially groomed winter hiking trails, the Schladming-Dachstein region offers a soothing experience for all the senses – and afterwards, you can enjoy a delicious regional delicacy and a warm drink at one of the numerous refreshment stops.

Snowshoeing

Slow down gradually

Is it the pristine meadows or the snow-covered forests that transmit their soothing tranquility to you? Is it the steady breathing or the crunching of the snow? Everyone can probably answer that question for themselves, or perhaps not – snowshoeing is simply a blessing. It slows down the pace and is a truly intimate experience of nature. Far away from the hustle and bustle, snowshoeing allows for peace and enjoyment. For the most beautiful tours, it's best to contact a guide who will not only show you unique spots, but also lead you safely and directly, respecting all the wildlife's refuges and, what's more, knowing the most rustic and cozy huts for a rewarding stop.

Ski touring

This gives me mountains

Only your own breathing can be heard and the snow beneath your skis. An incredibly beautiful winter landscape stretches before you – it's like a fairytale, the snow sparkles like a million precious stones. And then this peace and quiet… there is no sound, and everyday life seems a long way away. The goal is a summit or a vantage point from which the view can sweep far across the landscape. And after that… a descent through deep snow, over untouched slopes. Perhaps a reward for the climb, but definitely a pleasure and the crowning conclusion to a perfect day of touring skis. Off-piste, the Schladming-Dachstein region offers a multitude of options for unforgettable routes. At all difficulty levels, the ultimate nature experience is the focus. For safe tour planning and execution, we recommend a qualified ski guide or mountain and ski guide.
