Salzburg

Mozart city for culture lovers and families

Salzburg is located approximately 90 kilometers from Schladming and is easily accessible via the A10 motorway and by train. World-famous as the birthplace of Mozart, Salzburg has much to offer beyond the Getreidegasse. Hohensalzburg Fortress towers over the city and offers magnificent views of the historic city center and far beyond. A wonderful view can also be enjoyed from Kapuzinerberg, which you can access from the charming Linzer Gasse. The Mirabell Gardens, Hellbrunn Palace, numerous churches, and even a delicious "beer tour" can be enjoyed in Salzburg, which is home to eleven breweries. Children and adults alike will love the Haus der Natur (House of Nature). The museum presents a wide variety of topics in a very attractive way and invites hands-on participation in the science lab. Salzburg is also known as a shopping metropolis and is home to attractive shops and malls.

Trautenfels and Admont

Fascinating museums

Anyone who thinks museums are dusty and boring should definitely visit Trautenfels Castle and the Benedictine Abbey of Admont. The location of Trautenfels Castle is truly impressive, and from the observation tower, you can see almost the entire Enns Valley. This valley is also the focus of part of the exhibition, and you'll learn more about the history, traditions, and life in your vacation region. Changing exhibitions round out the program in a very interesting way. The Benedictine Abbey of Admont is known worldwide for its largest abbey library. The ancient writings, books, and incunables exude an unparalleled fascination. The museum also offers very modern aspects that provide a striking contrast to the historic abbey. Absolutely worth seeing! Admission to both museums is free with the Summer Card!

Hallstatt

The original in Upper Austria

After about 80 kilometers, you'll reach Hallstatt, a small town whose intricate houses nestle between the shores of Lake Hallstatt and the salt mountain. The town owes its importance to the salt that has been mined here for thousands of years. In Asia, Hallstatt has achieved cult status, and the town has even been recreated in China. You can visit the original and experience the extraordinary with a visit to the salt mine, the ossuary, or the skywalk.

Graz

Capital of Culture with Flair

In 2003, Graz was European Capital of Culture, and its impact is still clearly visible today. Yet, few places have seen modern architecture as skillfully integrated into the cityscape as Graz. The Kunsthaus and the Murinsel are two masterpieces that inspire and have set a distinctive tone for Graz. The Styrian capital is diverse and inviting; a stroll through it reveals wonderful eye-catchers. An absolute must-see is the Schlossberg, which offers a magnificent view of the city.
